Greek mythology has served as a source of inspiration for artists for thousands of years. So why stop now?
​
By translating the myth of Echo and Narcissus into an interactive VUI chatbot, it is restored to its original context as an orally transmitted narrative.
​
This is not only beneficial to our perception of the past. By positioning the device as a narrator, the user is replaced as master over the conversation. In this position, they are urged to introspection.
What can the myth of Echo and Narcissus mean to a twenty-first century listener? Can it still teach us compassion, values and judgement, and is it able to reflect our post-modern society?
